Toy duck invasion of UK on its way.


The ducks began life in a Chinese factory and were being shipped to the US from Hong Kong when three 40ft containers fell into the Pacific Ocean during a storm on January 29, 1992. Today over 10000 ducks are still floating at sea.

Boscastle Under Flood Water Again


Three years after it was devastated by flash flooding, the Cornish village of Boscastle has been given another soaking. At its worst point, the floodwaters were three feet deep. But the deluge pales in comparison with the 440m gallons that flushed through the town in August 2004.

Stonehenge is a World Heritage site.

7B1 are making smoothies in room 22.

  • On Tuesday and Thursday we will be selling them at break and lunchtime.
  • They cost 30p each.
  • We are making the smoothies to help all the people who are growing the fruit and making the juice to earn a decent living.
  • With our profits we are going to keep on buying more fruit and juice. The money we spend on the fruit and juice will go to the people who make them.

Counting your money Chinese style


Some Chinese people were taught to count to 100,000 by using their fingers.

Chinese currency is based on the decimal system, and consists of paper money and coins. The smallest coin is 1 fen.
10 fen make up a jiao (also called mao)
10 jiao make up a yuan.
Paper money comes in six denominations - 5 jiao, 1 yuan, 2 yuan, 50 yuan, and 100 yuan.

1 British Pound = 15 yuan
1 yuan = 7p
